John Strada began teaching at EKU in the Spring of 2004 as a part-time faculty member, and in 2006 joined the full-time CMS faculty as a Lecturer.  He earned undergraduate degrees in Communication and Aviation Management from Auburn University, and earned his M.A. in Communication in 1999 from Auburn University.  His content interests include Interpersonal Communication, Small Group Communication, and Instructional Communication.

Now a Senior Lecturer, John brings the EKU Communication Studies program more than 20 years of experience teaching college level Communication Studies courses.  He has taught courses in Small Group Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Leadership, Basic and Advanced Public Speaking, and various hybrid introductory courses with content ranging from small group and interpersonal communication to public speaking, basic theory & methods and communication history.  John also currently teaches as part of EKU’s nationally prominent honors program, where he team teaches the freshman Honors Rhetoric course with faculty members from English and Philosophy.

In his personal time, John’s biggest passion is volunteering- He regularly volunteers as a faculty learning partner for EKU Student Life’s alternative break trips, has served as a faculty investor for EKU housing, and each semester, along with his colleague Krista Kimmel, helps to coach EKU college commencement speakers.  Additionally, John spends a great deal of time volunteering with Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity. He served for six years as a member of Alpha Phi Omega’s National Board of Directors, and currently serves as a faculty advisor for the EKU, UK, and Kentucky State chapters of the Fraternity.  He frequently travels around the country for Alpha Phi Omega presenting workshops and training events at student conferences and leadership development weekends.

John is a member of the National Communication Association, Toastmasters International, and is an honorary member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.  He is also a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
