Bio

Eric Meiners earned his Ph.D in Communication from Michigan State University. He joined the Department of Communication at Eastern Kentucky University in Fall 2009. He has taught subjects including Introduction to Communication, Small Group Communication, Organizational Communication, and Leadership, and is known for his progressive teaching strategies and engaged class discussion.

Dr. Meiners' research interests include organizational communication and instructional communication. Author of 12 peer-reviewed articles and nearly 30 refereed conference papers, he has won top paper awards at annual conventions of both the National Communication Association and Southern States Communication Association. His research has appeared in such journals as Journal of Applied Communication Research and Communication Teacher. He is a two time recipient of EKU’s University Fellows award for research.

He has recently completed a successful three-year term as Editor-in-Chief of the Kentucky Journal of Communication, where he maintained high levels of rigorous, quality peer-review. Dr. Meiners has also been a regular reviewer for the premiere journals in the communication discipline, including Management Communication Quarterly and Communication Studies. He has also served the EKU community as a member of the Faculty Innovators and through his participation in events such as the EKU Pedagogicon, Faculty Scholars Institute, and the University Fellows Showcase.
