Knoebel Earns Washington Internship With Senator Paul

Rachel Knoebel

Rachel Knoebel, a junior Public Relations major at Eastern Kentucky University, recently accepted an internship in Senator Rand Paul’s Washington, D.C. Office for the Spring 2017 semester.

Knoebel applied for and received internship offers from both Senator Paul and Senator Mitch McConnell.  She will spend the semester putting her Public Relations education to use in a fast-paced environment surrounded by some of the most influential people in the country.

“I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to live and work in the heart of the nation,” Knoebel said.

Over the past three years Knoebel has stayed busy across campus as an Orientation Leader for the EKU Office of Admissions, a Colonel Camp Leader, a First Year Courses Peer Mentor, and Super Crew Leader for the Big E Welcome.  She was President of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and is currently a member of Alpha Omicron Pi where she serves as Recording Secretary.

“Without each of these incredible organizations and opportunities, I would not have grown into the leader and student I am today,” she noted.  “I am very excited to be able to represent EKU in Washington.”

Associate Professor of Public Relations and faculty advisor Dr. Jim Gleason added, “Rachel embodies the best of Kentucky and EKU.  I’m delighted to see her earn such a competitive internship, and I’m looking forward to hearing about her experience as part of Senator Paul’s team.”
