Alumni Halloween

Uriah Lee

Department of Communication graduates and former Eastern Progress editors Whitney Leggett, Kayla Lasure and KaLeigh Underwood used their journalism roots to create Halloween costumes this year.

Whitney’s son, Uriah, was dressed in early 1900s attire as the “World’s Best Paperboy” selling the Halloween News. Whitney is editor of The Winchester Sun.

Grammar Police Officer Kayla and AP style violator KaLeigh were named winners in the AP Stylebook Halloween Contest. Their entry read, “Reporter Kayla Lasure throws the (AP Style)book at friend KaLeigh for a number of violations!” Kayla is a reporter at the Watauga Democrat in Boone, N.C., and KaLeigh is a Master’s student in Appalachian Studies at Appalachian State University.
