Former Progress editor Kristie Hamon moves to State Journal

Former Eastern Progress editor-in-chief Kristie Hamon recently returned to her hometown of Frankfort as the new education reporter for the Kentucky State Journal.  Previously she had been at the Kentucky Standard in Bardstown.

Hamon was EKU's 2013 Outstanding Senior and is a JOU graduate.

Kentucky Press Association recently announced that EKU students had won eight internships offered this summer.

CMS Student wins Most Outstanding Minority Leadership Award.

Ashley Offutt, a recent CMS graduate, received the Most Outstanding Minority Leadership Award at the 2013 Minority Leadership Awards presentation on May 1. The second annual event was hosted by the African/African-American Studies Club.    

Faculty/Student documentary earning accolades.

When Jason Edwards chose his brother, Joe, as the subject of his internship project at EKU last summer, he hoped to gain more than a good grade. 

Rudick nominated for Distinguished Educational Leader Award.

Dr. Karen Rudick has been nominated for a 2012-2013 Distinguished Educational Leader Award in the category of Exceptional Classroom Performance. Nominations are made by students.  

Communication faculty nominated for Critical Thinking Teacher of the Year award.

Six members of the Department of Communication full-time faculty were recently nominated for the 2013 Critical Thinking Teacher of the Year award.  Nominees included Dale Anderson, Dr. Mike Branstetter, Dr. Kathy Keltner-Previs, Dr. Jayne Violette, Dr. Jim Gleason and Dr. Ginny Whitehouse.
